Some commentators have suggested this is another sign of the impact of the global credit crunch and economic crisis, however personally I think this news has its roots elsewhere.

As a PR Consultant, I was proud to handle the SanDisk account for a few years, and working for the company remains one of my highlights of my CV. My gripe is with Sky, having had a splendid afternoon down my old local watching the England match on ITV. leaving aside all comment about the match itself - yeah we weren't ace but we got the job done etc. - it made me realise that Sky has actually done a massive dis-service to the very foundations of its mass empire...

I remember, many many many moons ago (we're talking probably around 1,800 moons or so. a lot of moons), HAVING to go to my local to watch a decent footie match,...
