				<![CDATA[<p>The news today that SanDisk, after announcing yet more significantly down financial results, is to lay off 15% of its workforce globally is perhaps not a huge shock to those who have been watching the company for some time. Some commentators have suggested this is another sign of the impact of the global credit crunch and economic crisis, however personally I think this news has its roots elsewhere.</p>
<p>As a PR Consultant, I was proud to handle the SanDisk account for a few years, and working for the company remains one of my highlights of my CV. One key reason for this is the sheer innovation the company is responsible for – the founders, Eli Harari and Sanjay Mehrotra INVENTED FLASH MEMORY. They INVENTED it. 				<![CDATA[<p>Hi - I realise I'm supposed to start with some precedent-setting, incredibly incisive and world-engaging blog post here, and need to set my stall out from the start but my initial post is going to be about something perhaps a bit more mundane than the high end world of the tech media / press / blogosphere etc. etc. ad infinitum...</p>
<p>My gripe is with Sky, having had a splendid afternoon down my old local watching the England match on ITV. leaving aside all comment about the match itself - yeah we weren't ace but we got the job done etc. - it made me realise that Sky has actually done a massive dis-service to the very foundations of its mass empire...</p>
<p>I remember, many many many moons ago (we're talking probably around 1,800 moons or so. a lot of moons), HAVING to go to my local to watch a decent footie match,...</p>
