If you are a Journalist, PR, or otherwise involved in the technology industry, we want your opinions for this collaborative site. Get yourself noticed, build a portfolio and promote your work; with the by-product of a great site to read.
“I can't pay you” are the four words that journalists never want to hear, but there are a few good reasons why you should write for TAT. Firstly, it doesn't require a lot of effort – a few short posts every now and then – or merely commenting on something someone else has submitted.
Differentiating yourself as a freelance is essential, and by showing off your knowledge of the industry, you are likely to get noticed and be offered more work. Being commissioned for editorial opinion is very rare for a technology journalist – so any contribution to TAT wouldn't directly be a loss of earning after all.
Awesome. But don't you hate always listening to journalists and never getting your own industry opinions noticed? Maybe you used to be a journalist and still have itchy fingers? Or perhaps you're considering switching sides and want to build a portfolio? All good reasons to contribute to TAT.
Sure, go and start your own blog - have you seen how many are out there? You'll get much more exposure by writing for TAT and things are only going to get better as our readership grows. By contributing, you can have your own profile where you can showcase who you are, what you do, why people should care and where else your writing can be found. Only you edit your profile! You can even steal some Google Juice by linking to relevant websites in your text.
If you work for a large company, it's important to maintain that your opinions are your own and not that of any companies you are assocated with - especially as many won't allow blogging. So if that means being anonymous - that's fine with us and we can keep a secret :)
If you are lucky enough to be selected for TAT, you can have your very own thinkabouttech.com e-mail address, via Google Apps. You can use your TAT credentials to gain entrance into events – on the condition that you write something about it. You can also request product samples for review, but also on the condition that you do actually review them for TAT. Remember that any products that you do request will be your responsibility, not ours!
