I'm a technology and games journalist, primarily writing for Custom PC and Bit-Tech.net as well as the occasional piece for Computer Shopper and IGN.
So that's the professional bit out of the way. What am I all about? Well I'm a gamer. I love those cheeky little life-stealing oddities. I've tried to sup upon the other meats of the cultural stew, really I have, but from high art to comics, from great literature to pulp novels and from exploitation to art house I've found them all to be wanting against the dynamism and innovation of games.
Because I love games I hate console retardation. I hate 'casual' games. I hate MMOs whose grind and buy mentality simply makes them a poor simulator of life. I hate inferior control systems and the one-a-year game franchises. When a game is well made it is the highest of man's artistic accomplishments, part narrative, part challenge, part narcotic. A great game is like a great story and a great sport rolled into one.
Other than gaming I like to rant about things, which if you've read this far you might have gathered.
