About TheLostSwede

Unlike some of the other people here, I started with a PC. None of them antiquated things, although in all fairness, I was always jealous of my class mates who had C64’s, Amiga’s and Atari’s, but as things turned out, I didn’t end up with any of those “toy” computers…

My break came after I moved to the UK (as I was born and bred in Sweden) thanks to an ad in the back of PCW, which was looking for a labs tester at the time. Although I already had a very keen interest in technology, I learnt a lot once I started there. After about a year I moved up to become a staff writer for the magazine, although about a year or so later, the publisher ran into some difficulties after having spent a bit too much cash on Ziff Davies and as such I had to move on.

After a short spell doing technical marketing for MSI, I got offered a job as Technical Editor for TrustedReviews.com and helped set up the publication together with Riyad and later on the rest of the team. After two and a half years there I had enough of the drive and landed myself a job with RegHardware, although due to some unforeseen personal issues, I left that job after about 9 months and ended up moving to Taiwan.

My first jobs out here was as News Editor for Fudzilla.com for 2.5 years and a short spat of news writing for TweakTown.com. I helped kick off netbooknews.com but it didn't last for reasons that won't be explained here. I'm now working on my own publication that will focus on mobile computing and I'll put up a link here as soon as it's ready.

Being in Taiwan is great, as you’re so much closer to the companies that make most of the things that goes into a PC and I have given the opportunity to get some great first hand and exclusive news stories. I’ve attended most of the big trade shows, such as CeBIT, Computex and IFA, although I have yet to make it to CES. I’ve also attended IDF Taipei and a wide range of other smaller event.

I’m generally interested in most things tech, although I’m not specialized in anything special, which has both advantages and disadvantages. I try to read as much as I can about the latest in technology, but it’s getting harder and harder to keep on top of it all. I most probably spend way too much of my time reading things online, but such is life when you live on the cutting edge of technology. Miss one day and it feels like you’ve been away for a week.
